Can we tape / copy / burn / rip-off your music ?
The short answer is yes. We believe in the easy, free and wide distribution of music to everyone [please see FAQ why are you so angry?], regardless of class, privilege, or ability to pay. We don't like the record company, and music shop fixing of prices at ridiculously high levels (which is essentially to serve record company marketing departments, and not artists). [Also see FAQ why do you hate Tesco?] Having said that, we feel strongly that supporting artists is very important and the emergence of new artists keeps music exciting and moving forward. If you feel that this is important too, obviously the best way of doing this is to buy their records. We would appreciate you buying our music too, and soon you will be able to do this on this website. We love buying records, and it always feels better than copying it, but we do feel an occasional 'bitter taste in the mouth', with the obvious exceptions of buying records from independent labels, the artists themselves, or records purposely given low sale prices for this reason. Until the music industry reforms websites which offer free downloadable music will continue to outgrow record sales. Essentially, you have to make your own decision in this regard, but our main aim is to let as many people as possible hear our music - however we can achieve this. |
